Franciscan Hospitaller Sisters of the Immaculate Conception
Congregation
The Congregation of the Franciscan Hospitaller Sisters of the Immaculate Conception is a religious family, founded in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 3, 1871, by Father Raimundo dos Anjos Beirao and Mother Maria Clara of the Child Jesus, and was approved by Pope Pius IX, on March 27, 1876 as religious Institute of Pontifical Rite. |
Franciscan |
As Franciscans, we follow the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi, whose ideal was to live according to the Holy Gospel. He was a man of joy and lover of nature, who lived extreme poverty, humility and simplicity, after the example of Jesus Christ.
|
Hospitaller |
As Hospitallers, the Sisters are a presence and an expression of the mercy and tenderness of God, in the world, following the example of Father Raimundo and Mother Clara, whose charity knew no bounds
|
Sisters |
Animated by the love of God, the Sisters live in community, making it their home, by living in love, unity and fraternal sharing.
|
of the Immaculate Conception |
Like the immaculate virgin, humble Servant and Mother of the Lord, the sisters offer themselves to God, with an undivided heart, to make of their life a generous ‘yes’ and to take Jesus to the world. |
